The primary new feature in Synchronize! Pro is the ability to synchronize and backup files over the Internet. In order to do this, Synchronize! Pro connects to an application called SpeedShare Server. SpeedShare Server runs on another Macintosh computer connected to the Internet and responds to requests from Synchronize! Pro.
If you are not using the TCP/IP features of Synchronize! Pro, open the application and try it out. You don't need to worry about SpeedShare, and the online help (type command-H) will get you started.
The Synchronize! Pro 4.0 folder contains the following:
- Read Me First (this document)
- Using Sync! Pro with SpeedShare
- Setting Up SpeedShare Server
- Synchronize! Pro Folder
- SpeedShare Server Folder
To use Synchronize! Pro 4.0 with SpeedShare, you will need to install SpeedShare Server on another Macintosh which has TCP/IP active. Once SpeedShare Server is installed and running, use Synchronize! Pro to connect to it, scan and compare folders, and copy changed files.
Please use the two documents, Using Sync! Pro with SpeedShare and Setting Up SpeedShare Server to take you through your initial trial of this software.
